tifinagh, tirra n tmazight
Tifinagh is a cosonantal-based
writing system first used by Tuareg
people in Niger and south Algeria. In the last decade, thanks to Berber
communities activism, Tifinagh has been officially adopted as the
Berber alphabet in Algeria and Morocco. The alphabet used in Morocco
contains 34 characters: 4 vowels (i, e, a and u), 2 glides (y, w) and 28 consonants (cf Ircam-Tifinagh alphabet chart).
